Flues
Before you purchase your stove or fire, we need to know that it will be suitable for your home. You need to be aware of the type of chimney or flue you have. However, with the advances in technology that have arisen over the last few years, choosing a flue system could be quite a complex activity. To help you out, you can expect us to help you choose the best flue system for your building. We have years of experience in helping people with flues and are sure to be able to offer you a comprehensive service that takes you through the process step-by-step.
We have a variety of flue systems for gas stoves and wood burners/ fires. This includes prefabricated flues and flues for brick and stone chimneys. We also have pre-cast flue systems that fit with the requirements of more modern homes.
In addition, we have balanced and powered flues that do not require any chimney construction to work.
The conventional flue is the brick or stone chimney flue. The chimney stack rises above the roof line and is topped by a traditional chimney pot. It is easily recognizable as the typical chimney stack that is visible in most homes in the country. This product relies on the natural circulation of air through the room and up the chimney to operate. This will allow the chimney to expel the product of combustion.
Prefabricated flues are metal, and they may terminate through a short rectangle pot. Connected to a flue box with a gas terminal on the roof. They create exactly the same level of air circulation as a chimney would.
New solutions include the balanced flue. The appliance is completely sealed from the room into which it is installed and a pipe is sent to an outside wall for the balanced flue. This is a glass fronted gas fire, and the fact that it is sealed off from the room in which it is installed is significant and shows how it can be viewed as a strong alternative to traditional flue and chimney set ups.
